Impressive animation / disappointing message

oh man, where do I start?

I'm extremely impressed with the scope and quality of the visuals of your film, especially considering your tight production schedule. Your shot choice, camera work, and animation are spectacular.

And I am awed by your courage in attempting to convey a powerful message, but I am deeply DISAPPOINTED by the ultimate implications of your film.

You had me until the end.

Despite your response to a previous reviewer who noted (quite correctly) that "you don't have to be religious to be a good person" you ARE undeniably implying that religion, specifically the Christian religion, is a necessary "step" in becoming a moral contributor to human society.

You, through your character, are SO CLOSE to successfully delivering a powerful humanist message, that WE HUMANS should LOVE our fellow man, regardless of race, gender or creed.

Your character took that extra step to break free of an insulated life and began a journey of change.

But then he took a giant leap BACKWARD when he reached for that Bible.

I was a Christian for over 20 years and I read the Bible many times through Christian eyes, finding hope and divinity within its pages.

But then something happened.

Education opened my eyes and I discovered science and rational thought. After learning to think for myself and losing all faith in fraudulent superstitious nonsense, I read the Bible again with a clear mind and uncorrupted heart, and this time I realized that the Bible is one of the most despicable, hateful, disgusting books ever written. Now I get physically ill just knowing that millions upon millions of people that world over look to this evil document as a source of spiritually and morality.

In case you've forgotten just how evil the Bible can be, I suggest you reread the following passages which are especially frightening to all non-Christians:

Deuteronomy 13:8-10 (God commanded all believers to kill all non-believers, even your family and friends)

Matthew 10:33 (Jesus "disowns" all non-believers)

Luke 12:10 (again, Jesus "disowns" all non-believers and declares "blasphemy" as an UNFORGIVABLE sin)

Jesus himself says mere words are sinful enough to never be forgiven and yet God CONDONES or even COMMANDS all the evil deeds committed by humans in these passages:

Genesis 22:1-19 (human sacrifice ordered by God)

Leviticus 20:10-27 (gay-bashing and murder)

Numbers 31:31-40 (war, rape, murder and slavery commanded by God)

Deuteronomy 21:10-14 (more war, rape, murder and slavery commanded by God)

Judges 19:22-29 (misogyny, rape, murder)

Romans 1:26-27 (gay-bashing)

These are just a few examples off the top of my head of the horrible evils committed in the name of God in the Bible. If you read the Bible from cover to cover, Old Testement and New, you will discover countless more.

That said, I "dare" you and everyone who agreed with the Christian message in your film to take the next TRUE step to becoming a better person and THINK FOR YOURSELF!!!

If you feel the need to believe in something, believe in SCIENCE. The scientific method allows anyone and everyone to TEST the world around them, EVALUATE what it real and KNOW what is TRUE.

The Bible is a MYTH, but the social problems that you depict in your film are REAL, and it frightens me to think of all the time WASTED on worshiping an imaginary friend instead of truly helping our fellow man.

I think you truly have talent and vision. My hope (not prayer) is that you awaken from your delusion and discover that true morality comes from within.

peace

squeakytoad responds:

Wow. A two second clip of him seeing a Bible provoked quite a response from you.

Well, I'm not here to debate. You are entitled to your own opinion.

And I really hope that people won't see this as me forcing anything on them. And I especially hope no one misunderstands this as saying that you can't love others without being a Christian.
I put that in there because
1) It fit with the song.
2) That's what I felt the character should do.
3) It's an important part of my life.

Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed the animation aspects of it.

Very animation to a hilarious song

I'm generally NOT a fan of literal interpretations of lyrics in music videos, but this a very funny, very creative animated music video to Weird Al's song, which is already hilarious without the visuals.

Funny stuff.

ZekeySpaceyLizard responds:

woo

I'm an incurable insomniaddict, an insufferable iconoclast and a no-nonsense Nihilist. Looking back at that last sentence it appears I'm also addicted to alliteration. I'm extremely allergic to religions, political parties, and traditions.
